Pricey, but I still eat here on a regular basis. The food is excellent!

I have been eating here since they opened back in the early 2000s(?) I have had some amazing experiences here. Giant sushi boats, surprise this, surprise that. Yes, I paid more here at times but it was worth it. The owner is amazing and has always treated me like family (we have our own chopsticks). I have had sushi at many places and yet this will always be my favorite. I will say, however, that you might get a new waitress that needs to be spanked. Like any restaurant in Los Alamos, they suffer from the lack available good help. But I would not count off for that. Its just how it is up here. No help at the restaurants.

All four of us agreed this was the worst Japanese food we have ever had. Service was equally poor. Feeling bad for the residents of Los Alamos, that this is all they have. :-(

Highly recommend the heart attacks, them smokey brains, the memo, the chili Reno roll, the lion king, something wrong #2 and if you don't have to drive the saki bommers The owner, Jen, is a real gem in town and the restaurant food is great!

Best sushi rice ever. Sashimi was fresh but the slices were thin. My husband enjoyed the Unagi don very much. Service was good too.

Not much choices for sushi in town but Origami is consistently good. The Santa Fe roll is one of our favorites as well as the Tiger Eye and spicy tuna. There are plenty of different rolls to choose from as well as sashimi, nigiri and non sushi Japanese food as well. The fried rice is the best I've ever had. Service can be a little slow if they are busy but everyone is always very friendly.

The hot stone pot rice with beef was very fragrant. The restaurant's cleanliness was immaculate!

I came for lunch earlier today with a good friend who worked in Japan for several weeks out of the year back in the early 2000s. Him, before placing order: "Ooh. I havent had a bento box since Nasu." Him, after receiving order: "I still haven't had a bento box since Nasu." Of course, he meant it half-seriously and thoroughly enjoyed his food, as did I. The tempura batter was light and flaky with perfectly cooked vegetables (a peeve of mine is overly-battered tempura). The teriyaki beef was a bit overdone for my taste, but still edible. The California roll was, as Kramer so eloquently put it, "Like a circus in my mouth!" What can I say, I've been living on Smith's sushi for the past few months out of sheer convenience. The wasabi stood out as being tastier than foodcolored horseradish. The miso soup was tasty and the ginger salad dressing was incredible. This is about as good as Japanese gets in NM, and in Los Alamos, it is simply outstanding. I'll be back.

My wife and I ate here for dinner. The yellow tail sushi she had was SO THIN, you could read through it. We are from LA and now the Pacific Northwest where you can get sushi for a reasonable price. Not that the prices were extremely high but the yellow tail was SOOOO thin, after I paid, I had to tell them the truth to their face I was so upset. I told the sushi chef that we would have ordered more but we decided to cut our loses. I didn't see many people there, only one other couple came in, so maybe this is old news.

The food is actually pretty good here. Husband usually orders the sushi and I'll generally experiment with something new. Everything I've had is very good. The problem here is the waitress we keep getting. She's some high school kid who has no idea what she's doing. She could not refill my water glass and took almost an hour and a half to bring out our food once. Everytime she passed by our table, she freaked out and realized she forgot something, but then must have forgotten about it another three seconds later because she still never brought us our food. The price is a little high and as long as it's not an american serving you (I know how it sounds, but honestly the high schoolers are really bad at customer service here), be prepared for decent food and decent service.

Small, nice establishment, Origami is accommodating to family style eating. Frequently, they even bring an extra miso soup free of charge, so that everyone can have one. The soup comes with the entrees, so it's nice of them to provide an extra if you have one less entree than person. Tempura is crisp, and not overwhelmed with batter. There's a nice variety of dishes, and combination plates in case you want a little of everything. The menu also contains a few Korean dishes. Dolsot bibimbap, a mixed rice dish comes in a scorching hot stone pot and cooks at the table. Some of their meat dishes are more Korean influenced than Japanese. Their Spicy BBQ Pork dish is essentially Korean daeji bulgogi. As a small restaurant in Los Alamos, you'd want to avoid the busiest hours. Service has always been fine, as we've stopped in during less frantic times.

I had lunch here last Friday with my husband and a lovely couple we just met. I would like to try other things on their menu, the prices were right and the location was good. I had two orders nigiri (salmon and hamachi), edemame, and a yummy cooked roll with hamachi on the outside. Our lunch was $52 with a tip for the two of us. I think hubby got the Bento box, now I can't remember... Our friends had some nigiri, a few rolls and veggie tempura app, which looked really good. The place was CROWDED, we were lucky we had a reservation as there was not a seat in the house at 1pm on Friday. They were understaffed for their volume, our server was working hard but unable to keep up. I think we got better service because our friends were regulars, otherwise I probably would have been unhappy with the service. More on this when I have time to explore what else they have to offer, we will be back here for sure, hopefully during a quieter time so we can sit at the bar and order omakase. The Chef will take good care of you if you let them..... 6/3 got quick takeout today, was hot and bothered and needed a light lunch...cali roll and one order each hamachi and sake (12 pcs total) = $16 -that's a good deal for a healthy and filling lunch!

Let's start out by saying I'm a sushi snob, whole learned a thing or two during time spend in Japan. The sushi quality is exactly what one would expect to find in a small town (low product turnover rate) in a land-locked state. I didn't think it was horrible or anything, but by no means was it good. The only item I actually really liked there were the baked green-lipped mussels, which arrive frozen to most places in this country - thus the 3 star rating rather than 2.

Not bad for small town sushi place. The green chili in the Santa Fe roll is particularly yummy.

Not bad if you like rolls instead of traditional sushi. Some of the rolls are pretty creative and the TNT preparation was quite a show! For Los Alamos, this is pretty good food, albeit not cheap. The "fancy" rolls run about $14 per order, which is comparable to Los Angeles prices, I just thought that New Mexico would be cheaper ...

In a town with two sushi options, this is the better one. It's not like the sushi you would get in a big town near the coast, but Los Alamos is neither of those. Ask the chef what's special or fresh for the day and you'll get much better food and service. Seriously!
